Here's my magazine cover. I had a few ideas for magazine covers and in the end I just went with the nightlife magazine idea using a margarita glass I own for my shot. Feel free to comment on it.

This is my magazine cover. I chose to do a goalie specific magazine. I called it Behind the Mask and made my cover story about Flyer's Goalie Antero Niittymaki. The teasers were made for goalie fans.

I feel like music magazines today give way too much press to bands that are already established, and don't give enough attention to the many great bands that might just be starting out, or might not have a big enough following to land the cover of a magazine. So, I decided to make a magazine called "mixtape" and was all about giving newer bands a chance. It would also contain all sorts of music news and such. For my design, I e-mailed two bands (Malajube and Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin) and asked them if I could use some high-res photos for a journalism project. They both agreed, and this is the design I came up with. Fun!

For a long time, I also wanted to be on the cover of a magazine so I decided to put Moi on the cover of..... J' ADORE!!!!! I wanted to create a cover that focused on French fashion and hair. The simple picture I took was in my bathroom with a boring background. I erased the color so it would be in black and white but I also wanted the picture to stand out so I turned my shirt and some of the teasers BRIGHT.... red!!!!

I aligned my text down the right-hand side because I thought there was a lot going on on the left side of my photo. I thought the turquoise font picked up the water in the background & that the coral was a nice accent. Hope you like it!

After having my original piece that is already posted, critiqued in Lecture on Thursday morning I spent a majority of that afternoon in the Tech Center reworking my original cover. Some of the things I did was making my teasers less "wordy" I also added pictures of the players that I advertised the interviews with in one of my teasers. I also used some effects like drop shadows and outlines around the title of my magazine and on the headline. One last thing I did was add a border of little baseballs around the picture of Fenway Park. The last thing I did was change the color of the darker fonts and made them lighter so they would pop off the page and become easier to read.

So, this is my magazine cover. My original idea was to have a shot from the inside of a hockey net, panning out onto the ice, but that idea was a no go, so this was my next plan. My neighbor from back at home is a photographer for the Hershey Bears, and he gave me a few pictures to work with, and this is the one I chose. Overall, I am pretty happy the quality of the cover. The font color I used for the teasers is supposed to be the color of the trim on their socks and jerseys. For the alignment I went with an upside down right triangle effect. I made the cover story the top and largest teaser, and the other teasers get a little smaller in font. So, yeah that is my magazine cover. If you have any feedback whatsoever it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I chose this Magazine cover because I loved the photo that I took for it. I've always wanted to use this photo for something more than just a portfolio so I decided that this was to time to use it for something more. Things were complicated by using different versions of Photoshop which didn't accept certain fonts that other had in the past. Things worked out in the end though. I've always been interested in niche magazines and really wanted to create one.

I love to travel, so a travel magazine seemed like a natural choice for my magazine. The picture is one I took while at the Cape (Nantucket in particular) this past fall, and I liked the contrast between the red of the boat and the blue of the water. I chose to align all the text on the left because it seemed the most organized, and it was the easiest wayt to work around both the boat and the bird that is in the middle of the water. The teasers all have the same font, while the title has a different, more distinctive look to it.

I read an article in LA Weekly that says we aren’t talking. The "we," being young college students, and "talking," referring to voicing our opinions on politics, the war, health care, and what not. So I channeled this observation/trend and used it for my magazine cover. The girl on the cover is a friend of mine, Cali, who graciously modeled for some photos. Then I photoshopped current events onto her skin to look like something between tattoos or scars—just a symbol of our generation’s composition. I really loved the white space on this cover so I added my text to the bottom of the page and kept all the font simple and straightforward because I think the image speaks for itself. ~Erin
